pjbaby gave me great advice about posting a testimony here regarding my New Age nickname. I agreed and will write it out here unscripted.

I said the sinner’s prayer in 1979 @ the age of 20 and started reading the bible and learned and asked for the Holy Spirit. I attended a local Baptist church for about 2 years and was baptized with my mother by immersion.
Years later I would look back and realize that I actually believed in Jesus when I was around 5 years old when I heard the gospel imbedded within a rock and roll song called "Spirit In the Sky". We had a picture of Jesus on our wall in those days, and when I heard in the lyrics about Jesus, I believed in Him fully at that time. (…)

Regarding the question which was generally asked, as to why did Jesus have to DIE to save all mankind, I commented twice:

Another facet of what Jesus did, in His Death on the cross was killing the carnal-man on the cross. This understanding ties in with our need to present our own bodies as a living sacrifice _and_ taking up our own crosses daily - i.e. crucifying our own carnal-mind and its lies that it whispers in our minds. Possessing the Treasure

The Spirit-led Christian is living in a world that is diametrically opposed to every value of God. The maturing believer is called by God Himself to jettison all values that are not His so the believer’s character can become Christ-like. Possessing the Treasure looks closely at our “Spiritual Treasure.” We are called to submit entirely to the regenerative process through which the Lord takes all of His true children.
