By Matthew Robert Payne The question is are the pieces meant to formulate for a specific purpose, or are we simply called to exemplify God where we presently are at and accept people unconditionally regardless if it is reciprocated. God is pretty smart. He is a free thinker and is not bound up with fears or worries like us humans. Let me tell you in is quite rare for a Christian to fully realise their potential on earth. Now that may come as a shock to you for me to say that, as most Christians think they are living up to their potential but there is a scripture that is simply a little scripture but powerfully demonstrates how short we fall. 1 John 2:6 (New King James Version) 6 He who says he abides in Him ought himself also to walk just as He walked. How many people do you see living a sinless holy life, full of power to meet the needs of the people God puts in their path? I would think if we walked JUST as JESUS walked there would be a couple more billion Christians in the world. Any one can be a Benny Hinn, yet few people abide fully. Jennifer asks: The question is are the pieces meant to formulate for a specific purpose Let me be very clear here. God has a specific purpose for you a very specific and finite purpose for every skill you have and the knowledge you have. God is not silly and not a God of waste like us humans, but the tricky thing is very few humans are tuned in enough and abide enough in Jesus and are led enough by His Spirit to listen to the daily and weekly steps and follow them to the letter in order to be fully used to their potential. Many Christians have Idols in their life. Something that takes more importance then God. Jobs, paying the mortgage, kids wives, careers, even their ministries become Idols. Very few Christians are centered on Christ and live set apart for him in this world. If you are set apart for Christ fully, it is very hard to find any pleasure in this world we live in save doing what the Spirit calls you do to each day. The Spirit may call me to go and watch a very sad movie, and something I wouldn’t ordinarily want to watch, yet this one movie transform my life and give me a level of compassion I have never had before. We have to be led by the Spirit, yet few Christians I know are led by the Spirit each day in everything they do and say. This is sad, but true. This is not to say that people don’t think they are doing their best. Yet when you meet an apostle that preaches and works all day and only gets 2 hours sleep most nights as he is up all night praying, it makes an impact in your life that perhaps you best could be better. Jennifer asks:or are we simply called to exemplify God where we presently are at This is true. We are called to be the aroma of Christ in a world that is dying. As a male I love women’s perfume and I am always smelling it on women and loving to smell it. If I have a special women in my life, I would wait until one day I find a perfume I smell that is to die for then I would ask the lady what it is and then take my wife down to the shop and have her spray it on her hand and see if she likes it. If she does then I would be happy to give $100 for it. So too the Christian life is meant to be like that perfume. We should be living such a life that when people see us and interact with us that they can smell Jesus on us and prompt them to ask us where did we get our perfume. Sadly many of us fall woefully short of that. Gossip envy, unforgiveness, bitterness, malice strife, anger, lack of patience, jealousy to name a few. Jennifer asks: and accept people unconditionally regardless if it is reciprocated. Jesus remains the most miss understood and miss represented and unthanked person in our universe. Jesus said to his disciples in the book of John four times between the last supper and his arrest in the garden, If you love me obey my commandments. It’s that simple. Most people don’t love Jesus as they should, because they sin and willfully disobey the commands of Jesus. We are told to love people with Christs love. We don’t have to accept their behaviour. We are to put our arm around a gay male, but not go as far as go to bed with him. Or lets say that another way. Jesus tells us if a brother sins against us we are to rebuke the brother in love and if he repents forgive him. So if we are in a relationship with another Christian and they hurt us with something they do, Jesus command is to point out what they did wrong and give them a chance to admit their error and then give them grace and forgive. We do a brother a disservice, just forgiving them and putting up with it thinking we are Jesus. The Holy Spirit ALWAYS convicts us of sin after we do it and gives us a chance to repent. Jesus is NEVER silent about our sin. If the person is not a Christian we should show them grace and form a bond and then also take the time when we have a relationship to tell them where they err. How is a person to ever change a bad habit if no one ever has the guts to tell them they have a bad habit. In another way Jesus told us to invite the poor to our house and the crippled when we throw a party, he said these people will not be able be reciprocate the favour yet your father in heaven will repay you. So we are are called to love a loveless person and we will be rewarded for our effort with a reward in heaven. We as humans like to be paid back for what we do, Most good friendships operate that way. You take me out to dinner, I’ll take you out for dinner. Yet Christ came and died for us whilst we were still sinners and there is nothing we can ever do on earth to ever repay that gift, we are simply told to accept it and be happy. So too you do God great honor loving people who are not doing anything back but be sure to tell them what irritates you or what they are doing wrong in love. I hope this has helped you.
